Team GT Wins Big In Vegas!

Sep 25, 2012

  • Carl Renezeder makes history with career win number 100.
  • Ryan “Fluffer” Hagy wins first career SuperLite race.
  • General tires help Team GT to five wins and 11 podium finishes.

Fort Mill, SC – September 25, 2012.  Team GT went “all in” at Las Vegas Motor Speedway for rounds 13 and 14 of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS) this past weekend.  Carl Renezeder led the way for the team logging his 100th career short course win in addition to two more wins to dominate the weekend.  Casey Currie and Ryan “Fluffer” Hagy also posted wins on their General’s while Team GT stood atop the podium under the lights of Vegas an astounding 11 times.  It’s safe to say Team GT came up big winners in sin city.

“To watch our guys roll to five wins and 11 podiums on General tires this weekend was just amazing,” said Travis Roffler, director of marketing for General Tire.  “Carl (Renezeder) just dominated the weekend and to win his 100th career short course race is certainly something to applaud.  It was also great to see Ryan Hagy get his first SuperLite win this weekend too.  On behalf of everyone at General Tire I want to say congratulations to every member of Team GT on a job well done in Vegas.”

Team GT started off with a bang during round 13 on Friday in the Pro 4 division.  A man on a mission, Renezeder took the lead just before the half-way point of the race to capture his 100th career win and start Team GT’s invasion of the podium.  Renezeder also captured a win in Pro 2 where Rob “Fig” Naughton sliced and diced his way through the field to post his first podium finish on General’s, a second place.

During Saturday’s Pro 2 action, Naughton led the first half of the race but a bold pass on Brian Deegan sent Renezeder to the second position and Naughton quickly had a rearview mirror full of the No. 1.  Renezeder pulled out his third win of the weekend while Naughton settled for third.  A great weekend for the two veteran drivers.

In Friday’s ProLite action, Currie battled RJ Anderson and Deegan for the duration of the race.  Just past half-way, Currie overtook Anderson for second and was hunting Deegan when Deegan bicycled and spun sending him to the back of the field while Currie went on to win for the second time this season.  Team GT up-and-comer Ryan Beat also put on a show as he came from deep in the field to post a third-place finish in ProLite.  The duo of Currie and Beat represented Team GT well on Saturday too claiming second and third-place finishes respectively.

Friday’s SuperLite race was not short of drama.  Hagy ran second for a majority of the race but in the closing seconds, was edged out by Drew Britt and settled for third.  He’d bounce back on Saturday though.  Saturday’s SuperLite race was a battle royal filled with door-to-door racing, mud slinging and botched re-starts.  Hagy maintained a position inside the top five for the duration of the race but it was two botched re-starts at the end of the race that opened the door of opportunity for Hagy.  The leader served a penalty for jumping two re-starts and Hagy held off the looming competition for a green, white, checkered finish.  The win marked Hagy’s first career SuperLite win.

Overall, Team GT conquered Las Vegas taking home five wins and 11 podium finishes.  General Tire’s most successful weekend of the 2012 LOORRS season.  The series returns to the track at Firebird International Raceway on October 27 and 28 for round 15 and the championship round.
