General Tire Is Going Fishing With The IFA

May 22, 2013
  • General Tire to sponsor IFA events including the Redfish Tour, Kayak Tour and all-new Pro Am Events.

Fort Mill, SC – May 22, 2013.  General Tire has gone fishing.  General Tire has joined the Inshore Fishing Association (IFA) as official sponsor for the 2013 season.  In addition to being a sponsor of the IFA Redfish and Kayak Tours, General Tire will also sponsor the new Lucas Oil IFA Pro-Am Redfish Challenge series presented by Cabela’s.

“With more than 30 million anglers nationwide, we felt the IFA Redfish and Kayak Tours would be a great venue to reach our core audience,” said Travis Roffler, director of marketing for General Tire.  “A majority of the angling community drives a light truck, and most have a boat trailer, so they have a need for a tire that’s going to provide them the comfort, durability and performance that they demand.  We think this is an excellent match for the General Tire brand.”

The IFA is the largest grassroots inshore fishing tournament organization in America.  TV coverage of this year’s events will reach 100 million households in the US and Canada via NBC Sports Outdoors, MAVTV, The Pursuit Channel, The Texas Channel, and World Fishing Network (WFN).  Providing an excellent platform for the General line of tires including the Grabber line, Altimax line and G-MAX AS-03.

“General Tire is a great company to bring on board the IFA tours,” said IFA marketing director Bart Schad. “Our anglers depend on their equipment for work and fishing every day. This partnership is an ideal platform for showcasing the durable and dependable products from General Tire.”

Drawing inshore anglers from Texas to the Carolinas and beyond, the IFA Redfish Tour is the largest and oldest redfish tour in the nation. Offering anglers the opportunity to compete in low-entry fee events, redfish anglers can fish close to home, minimize expenses and compete for lucrative winnings and contingency prizes.  The Lucas Oil IFA Pro-Am Redfish Challenge series is being billed as the ultimate redfish showdown, featuring the sport’s best anglers in a high stakes, made-for-TV competition.

The IFA Kayak Fishing Tour presented by Hobie Fishing is the fastest-growing kayak fishing tournament trail in the county. Kayak anglers competing in the catch-photograph-release tournaments can take advantage of the numerous money and product prizes awarded to competitors.
