What’s Your Favorite Fishing Town?

 General Tire Major League Fishing

According to the 2011 National Survey of Fishing, Hunting, Wildlife-Associated Recreation, 33.1 million people, age 16 years old and older, participate in fishing. That’s up 11% over the 2006 survey. At an average of 17 days spent fishing, and $41.8 billion spent on trips, equipment and licenses to support their activities, we wanted to know – where are the best fishing towns in the U.S.?

Field & Stream identified the 20 best fishing towns in the U.S. and there’s something for everyone. Highlights include Mountain Home, AR nestled in the Ozarks and full of largemouth’s, stripers and walleyes. Or maybe you prefer fly-fishing in Montana or the history and quaintness of Nantucket. Whatever your preference, you’re sure to find a town close to you that will provide a bounty of whatever fish your little heart desires. Of course there’s the question, how do I get there.

While many people live close to a lake, stream or ocean, the average angler spends $1,261 per trip on food, lodging and, you guessed it, transportation. To travel to these top-20 fishing towns, anglers wind through the curvy roads of the Rocky Mountains to visit Glenwood Springs, CO. Or maybe drive through the high-desert of Arizona to the second largest man-made lake in Page, AZ. From Bend, OR to Morehead City, NC, anglers will encounter a variety of road and weather conditions and General has a tire to make anywhere possible.

General Tire Expedition Overland Camping

To drive across the plains and through those amber waves of grain, the GRABBER UHP is an all-season tire designed for excellent handling and traction during the hot, dry days of summer, or during those ominous afternoon thunderstorms. To traverse mountain terrain while maintaining a smooth, comfortable ride on the pavement, the GRABBER AT2 is an ideal choice. And to carve through the silty, rocky desert, the GRABBER is a tire that was born from off-road competition and built to withstand the challenges of off-road driving. General makes travel to any of Field & Streams top-20 towns possible.
