For more than 25 years Rick D. Johnson has had a notable career in off-road racing. Johnson began his career at the age of 18 in the Challenger Buggy Class and has progressed to the premier Trophy and Trick Truck Classes winning races and championships along the way. In addition to owning a successful business (KJ Machine and Fabrication), Johnson’s on-track accolades include a remarkable nine championships, six-time Baja 500 winner, three top-three finishes at the Baja 1000, four-time ProTruck champion, and two-time Challenger Class champion. After Johnson took over as owner of Team 71 Racing, he piloted the truck to his first major victory in 2008 at the legendary Vegas to Reno race. He followed that with plenty more podium finishes including third-place finishes at the General Tire Mint 400 in 2009 and 2010. In 2012, Johnson is in position to once again reign in the desert as he looks for his 10th championship.
