General Tire Takes 1st place at Round 1 of the 2008 Castrol DMCC from Montmagny, Quebec
Toronto, ON - (June 23, 2008) - Marco Santos from General Tire Drift Team made one serious first impression by laying rubber all day long with his 500+ hp twin turbo VQ35 Infiniti G35. The G was already impressive in practice but proved its abilities when it kicked out Fred Girard in his R32 Skyline and won first place overall. Santo’s teammates, Haig Kanadjian and Danny “Babu” Bernier also stepped up to the plate, both heading out in Top 16 battles. While the sound of Babu’s new big block Mustang blew the crowd away, Haig maintained good lines throughout the day to impress the judges and score much needed points for Team GT. The General Tire drift Team comprised of Marco Santos, Haig Kanadajian and Dany “Babu” Bernier finished 1st, 5th and 9th respectively from a field of 24 drivers. This places General Tire at the very top of the points board in the JVC Tire constructors’ cup, ahead of Khumo, Toyo and BF Goodrich respectively. “We are thrilled that our General Tire Drift team went the limit and brought back this amazing win,” said Guy Hardiman, General Market Manager, Continental Tire Canada, Inc. “The DMCC drift series is the perfect test of endurance and performance of our products, and we are proud that our tires performed so well.”
