General Tire Grabber HTS Ranked #1 by Tire Rack The opinion of the Tire Rack team is that the Grabber HTS is changing consumer perception by offering drivers new reasons to own General Tires. These are modern tires that match today’s wide variety of vehicle and driver needs, prompting the Tire Rack team to enlist an old General Tire advertising slogan, “Sooner or Later You’ll Own Generals”, suggesting that maybe now is the time. Using their 2006 Porsche Cayenne V6 SUV with new, full tread depth 255/55R18 tires mounted on 18x8.0 wheels, the Tire Rack team reported that ride quality, road handling and driver feel were first rate on the HTS stating, “The General Grabber HTS felt nimble and responsive and was easy to negotiate our course at maximum speed.” In wet conditions the differences were more apparent, both from behind the wheel and when comparing overall lap times. Again the Grabber HTS led the pack with excellent overall wet traction, responsive steering and sure-footed braking. “We are again very pleased that a General brand tire performed so well in Tire Rack’s testing,” said Travis Roffler, director of marketing, General Tire. “The Grabber HTS test results are just one more example of how well this stellar product line performs, and the level of quality that has been placed into all General tires.” The Grabber HTS line represents the completion of the revitalization of the General Tire brand, Roffler added. The Grabber HTS is a highway all-season light truck tire developed for the drivers or crossover and sport utility vehicles, as well as pickup trucks and full-size vans. The Grabber HTS is designed to combine style, comfort, durability and performance by incorporating four distinct technologies: Duragen™ - ultra high-strength steel belts, micro-fiber casing reinforcements and a broad tire contour. Adaptive Performance™ – Response Grooves™, Stabilink Bars™ and three kinds of siping. Comfort Balance™ – tread cushioning system and noise-capturing pockets. EcoRide™ - improves fuel economy by reducing rolling resistance and lowering CO2 emissions.
