Gary Messer and his crew drove a flawless race at the SNORE General Tire Mint 400 this last weekend. Running a perfect race and winning the class by a large margin over Bruce and Fawn Finchum who took 2nd place. 3rd place goes to first time podium finishers Bruce and Kyle Freisen, and 4th place was Robby Woolworth in a TROPHYLITE house rental truck...... Louis Chamberland defending TROPHYLITE serise champion, Steve Hengeveld well known motorcycle racer, and Jim Riley owner of Azunia Tequila also finished the grueling course.
Gary Messer and his son Troy did the driving and had a dominating run for the TROPHYLITE class on one of the roughest courses in off-road racing. The General Tire Mint 400 has been known for how rugged the terrain is, taking its toll on equipment and drivers alike.
"I have to give the credit to my crew and great prepwork on the truck. The prep is the key in off-road racing and Bear and the guys did their job and got us a great truck. Winning this race 2 years in a row is a great feeling and this will help us in the championship points for the year. The nearly $10,000 in prize money from TROPHYLITE and SNORE tops the cake for us. Where else can you have great racing like this in off-road and make this kind of purse money?" Messer commented at the finishline.
Bruce and Fawn Finchum took delivery of their new TROPHYLITE truck two days before the race and were able to push the pace and get a solid 2nd place finish. The TROPHYLITE team built the new truck for the Finchum team in record time to make the General Tire Mint 400. This gives the Finchum team 2 TROPHYLITE trucks to compete with.
" The truck worked great. The guys at TROPHYLITE gave us a great truck to race and our team was awesome. I have to thank my wife Fawn for driving a great lap in the new truck and getting us in the position to finish on the podium. We are proud to have a 2 truck team to battle the other TROPHYLITE guys with. Our team including Marc Cowan doing our prep is just awesome...." Bruce Finchum commented about the race.
Just a few weeks back the Finchum team also won the SCORE San Felipe 250 in Class 7-2. They battled with other trucks in the combined class and were able to hold the other competitors off for the win. The team showed their strenght by pressing on at the race even though a team member was injured in a rare accident involving a Trophy Truck and one of their support trucks. Kelly was injured and rushed to the hospital in San Diego but he insisted that the team press on and finish the race. Bruce and Fawn continued and dedicated the win to their team and Kelly. This win marks the 2nd big win in Baja for TROPHYLITE after winning last years Baja 1000.....
Now we set our sites on round 3 of the 2010 General Tire TROPHYLITE Race Series at the Best in the Desert Bilek Racing Silver State 300 April 23-25...
