ENSENADA, Baja California, Mexico - (June 7, 2010) - Team General Tire came to Baja this week focused on winning. By the time the dust had settled early Sunday morning, that's exactly how it played out.
The KORE Racing Team led by Kent Kroeker won Class 8 in their first year competing in this class since moving up from Stock Full. "Ballistic" BJ Baldwin of Baldwin Motorsports, took third place overall as well as in the Trophy Truck class, Rick D. Johnson took sixth place in the Trophy Truck class; more than 40 trophy trucks were entered into the class. Marc Burnett in Class 6 finished 5th place in class, despite a vehicle roll over and a complete rear end replacement.
"This has been an exciting season so far for Team General Tire. We have accomplished many milestones since our return to desert racing three years ago," said Travis Roffler, director of marketing, General Tire. "Even though all of our drivers have their own motorsports teams, as a whole they have become ‘Team General Tire' this year, and we congratulate all of them for their amazing efforts on a very long and difficult course today."
"This was an incredibly challenging race this year as we were debuting a new truck and the course was extremely rough due to tremendous amounts of rain washing the course out, which only added to the complexity of setting the truck up for these conditions. But the General Tires performed flawless the whole day," Baldwin said. "We gathered a tremendous amount of information on the new truck and we are ready to take on the BITD Vegas to Reno and SCORE Primm 300. This is going to be a great season for Baldwin Motorsports and the new General Tire/Mastercraft Trophy Truck."
General Tire is again ‘unleashing the fury' in off-road performance for 2010, in the third year campaigning its Grabber competition tire. Designed with a tough, three-ply DuragenTM-reinforced body construction to stand up to the rigors of off-road conditions, the Grabber also features a newly-developed competition-specific tread compound. In addition, the Grabber name and General Tire logo are prominently featured on the sidewall in red and white letters. The Grabber competition tires are designed in size 37x12.50R17 for class 8 and trophy truck/trick truck and 35x12.50R17 for class 1, 6, 7, 7 S, stock mini and Protruck.
General Tire also has a complete line of Grabber tires for the passenger and light truck market, including the new Grabber DOT-approved off-road tire (available now); the Grabber HTS, which delivers the perfect synergy of comfort, durability and performance; the Grabber UHP, which sets a whole new standard in performance and ride quality for SUVs, light trucks and crossover vehicles; and Grabber AT2, designed for aggressive all-terrain traction in all weather conditions.
